DESCRIPTION:We invite all FCHPS members to join us from 4:30 – 6:30 pm\, Saturday\, September 24 for a special presentation and our AGM. The venue is: 1245 Judge Place We have a guest speaker Wylie Thomas who will talk about his work. \nWylie Thomas is a restoration practitioner and conservation biologist.  Among other things\, he manages a federally-funded project to restore critical habitat for federally listed endangered species in Oak Bay. He has also worked under contract to the provincial and federal governments to document endangered and threatened plant species and the invasive species that threaten them in Garry Oak ecosystems on southeastern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. \nHe has a Diploma in Restoration of Natural Systems from the University of Victoria as well as a BSc in Biology from McGill and a Master’s in Environmental Studies from York University. \nWylie will describe the work he is doing to produce an inventory of the natural areas of Cedar Hill Park and share some of his findings\, which include the discovery of new rare plants for the park. \nIn addition to Wylie’s presentation\, we will be conducting the business of the AGM with reports and updates from the President\, the financials and election of Board members.

DESCRIPTION:Friends of Cedar Hill Park are collaborating with the Saanich Parks Pulling Together Program to do Bowker Creek Clean-up Saturday\, the 24th from 9 – noon.  We will be meeting in the gravel parking lot in Cedar Hill Park on Finlayson located on the west side of the Creek between the two bridges.  Come for as long or as little a time as you can afford.  Please wear good footwear and bring gloves and loppers if you have them but we will also have extras.  Or just drop by to cheer us on :). Saanich Parks staff will be joining us.
